Cantactrices

WOM@RTS

For the last 30 years Auditorio de Galicia has organized the Cineuropa film festival. We want to take advantage of this event to reach its audience through the organisation of a specific parallel series, that we will include not projections, but live participation of European actresses: ¡Cantactrices! (singer-actresses). In that framework 4 European singer-actresses will be invited to perform, 2 in the 2019 edition (together with the “2nd Sex” exhibition opening), and 2 in the 2020 edition. Both editions should take place between October and November. It will also allow them to participate at roundtables or meetings with the general audience.

Cantactrices: SÍLVIA PÉREZ CRUZ
 6th December 2020, at  8 p.m.
 Auditorio de Galicia, Spain
Wom@rts partner Auditorio de Galicia hosted a concert of the Catalan composer, singer an actress  which is framed in the Womarts Project as part of the ‘Cantactrices’ concert-series.
She presented her last album, Farsa, a group of songs that Sílvia composed in collaboration with other arts and other artists: theater, cinema, dance, painting, photography, poetry. Recent examples (all from 2018) of these works are found in the film La noche de 12 años (Álvaro Brechner); the original music created for the show Grito Pelao with the dancer Rocío Molina or his compositions for the theater play Cyrano performed by the actor Lluís Homar.

Celebrating this interdisciplinary dialogue and with the intention of giving unity to the project, the relationship with photography has also been sought, making a series of photos that will serve as specific covers for each of the songs. Sílvia also put her face at the service of artistic make-up: in each of these covers her face receives a canvas treatment and the result is directly inspired by the music that they illustrate in each case.

FARSA CIRCUS BAND is the live band for this project. The line-up is made up of great musicians from the same generation as Sílvia with whom she meets again after many years and different paths of musical research.
