In 2000 Kristina Åberg started the production company Atmo together with colleagues from the Swedish Television. Kristina Åberg is a graduated journalist and has also studied international politics. She has worked as a reporter in different hot spots throughout the world, for example the Middle East, South Africa and Bosnia during the war. Since the start of Atmo Kristina Åberg have had the position as CEO. In the early years Atmo mainly produced TV-programmes for public service, but also documentaries for the international TV-market. In 2006 Gitmo by Tarik Saleh and Erik Gandini was released. That was the first full length documentary produced by Kristina Åberg. At that time, Atmo coproduced a lot with Zentropa in Denmark. Since then, most of the films produced by Kristina Åberg has been awarded. For example The Nile Hilton Incident by Tarik Saleh and a winner of Sundance 2017, was awarded with five Guldbagge (Swedish Academy awards) for best film, best male actor, best sound, best costume and best production design. The film was also nominated to a Ceasar by the French Academy in 2018.
